Dear Alex / Mommy Today was supposed to be your day. Today you were supposed to come into this world. During your life, you were supposed to slay dragons and inspire poets. You may very well still inspire poetry, but more for your absence than for your life. Your Daddy and I will try to pay tribute to your life while we are still alive. Hopefully we will make you proud to be part of our family.
I'm sorry you never go to share your day with us. I'm sorry you had other things you had to do. What a celebration we would have had.
Someone told me that we are put on this earth to learn certain lessons of love and goodness. Baby Alex, you were so loved that you learned your lessons quickly and were able to fly free to heaven. You are still loved up to the moon. We miss you every second of every day.

LITTLE THINGS / Mommy
It's the little things That tear me to pieces. It's the things That no one else notices, The reminders that only affect me. It's the "If onlys", "What Ifs" and "Why nots" It's all the things that should be. It's what no one else can see, Your pictures, the nightmares and the unfullfilled dreams. It's those tiny feet, Just prints in black ink. Little things Like newborn babies, diaper commercials Baby clothes and baby toys. It's unused blue booties, Winnie-the-Pooh and the Color Baby Blue Any of these things can make me cry. Any little thing Makes me want to die. Because all these things should make life happy, complete and full, But, instead - Each of these things make me wish, If only I had my little boy.

I carried you in hope, the long 9 months of my term, remember that close hour when we made you, often felt you kick and move, as slowly you grew within me, wondered what you would look like, when your wet head emerged, girl or boy, and at what glad moment, I should hear your birth cry, and I welcoming you, with all you needed of warmth and food, we had a home waiting for you, and after all my strong laborings, sweat cold on my limbs, my small crys merging with the winter air, you came, you did not cry, you did not breathe, we had not expected this; it seemed your birth had no meaning, or had you rejected us? they will say you did not live, register you as a stillborn, but you lived for me all that time in the dark chamber of my womb, and when I think of you now, perfect in your little death, I know that for me you are born still; I shall carry you with me forever, my child, you were always mine, and you are mine now, death and life are the same mysteries.
I cannot begin to understand the heartache that you've been through losing your dear baby, Alex. Bless you all in this time of sadness and know that you are in my prayers.

We will shower you with a lifetime of hugs and kisses. We will play and laugh and our family will be whole again. Please tell Grandpa C that we love him and miss him...and that he should look after you until we get there. Be good. And if you get a chance, peek in on your big brother every now and then.
